You feel it too

If the state of the living world sits heavy in you, grief for what's vanishing, a helplessness you can't quite put down, you are not broken. You are paying attention. That ache is the beginning of something, not the end.

Most of us were handed one of two stories. Everything's fine, carry on. Or everything's collapsing, too late to matter. There is a third story, quieter and truer: in thousands of places, ordinary people are helping land come back to life. You can be one of them. That is what this is.

Recovery is real

Ten years ago, Tsunul was a dead cattle ranch in the Yucatán: compacted red soil, invasive grass, no canopy, no birds. Today it is a closed-canopy forest with 514 documented species. Nobody engineered that. We removed the obstacles and paid attention, and the land did the rest. It wants to recover. That is not a metaphor. It is the most consistent thing I have seen in thirty years of this work.

You do not need a degree, or land, or a plan. You need to begin. And the beginning is smaller than you think.

Your first step, today

Find a patch of living ground near you. A weedy lot, a park edge, a creek bank, a strip of green outside your window. Go there. Sit for twenty minutes. Don't name anything, don't fix anything, don't photograph anything. Just notice what you hear, see, and smell. That is the whole practice the path grows from, and it is free.

When you're ready, this app walks with you. It holds your sits, helps you learn the species around you, and takes you step by step: from noticing, to reading a landscape, to healing one, to teaching others, at your own pace. Grief, to knowledge, to action.

You are already part of it. Welcome.
